Championships don’t begin in the show ring – they begin with a breeding plan.
At BRC, every mating is intentional. Brandon and Rachel, and our expert team study, strategize, and evaluate our entire program to breed cattle with one question in mind: How can we make the next generation even better?
BRC Grand River 690 is a perfect example of that philosophy.
Born from the mating of two National Champions, BRC Me Again Margaret 254 and BRC Amos Moses 257, Grand River wasn’t the product of chance. He was the result of years of breeding, selection, and generations of strategic planning.
His dam, BRC Me Again Margaret 254, assembled one of the most remarkable show records in Brahman history, earning the unprecedented Triple Crown with Grand Champion honors at the Houston Livestock Show, the National Brahman Show, and the World Brahman Congress, while also being a two-time AJBA All American Grand Champion Female.
His sire, BRC Amos Moses 257, captured the 2023 National Champion Bull title and the Reserve Grand Champion Bull at the 2024 Houston Livestock Show.
When those two elite individuals were mated, our goal wasn’t simply to produce another champion. It was to combine structural integrity, phenotype, size, maternal excellence, and proven genetics into one package that could move our breeding program forward.
At just nine months of age, Grand River made his first show ring appearance at the 2026 Kickoff Classic—recognized as the nation’s second-largest Brahman show behind Houston—and was selected as Reserve Grand Champion Bull by judge Clayton Bridges.
After first winning the October 2025 bull class and later the division championship, Grand River continued to impress throughout the day. Judge Clayton Bridges commented that the young bull had caught his attention from the moment he entered the ring. Likewise, as Brandon stood on the sidelines watching Connor exhibit Grand River, fellow breeders repeatedly came up to ask, “Who is this young bull?” When they learned the mating behind him, his quality came as no surprise.
For us, this victory represents more than another banner. It validates the breeding decisions made long before Grand River was ever born. It also reinforces something we have long believed: that the true measure of a breeding program or even a show cattle program isn’t simply winning championships, but producing the next generation of cattle that continue to earn them.
When the offspring of great cattle begin to excel, it validates the decisions made years earlier and the long-term vision behind every mating. Some might say this mating started back in 2023 when both the sire and dam of this remarkable young bull were National Champions together in Bryan, Texas under judge Jennifer Parker.
We’d actually say it started even earlier than that, in the constant, daily mindset and breeding program developed by Brandon and Rachel along with our team and our children.
At BRC, our goal has never been to repeat yesterday’s success. It is to keep breeding better cattle, generation after generation, and to continually raise the bar for what a Modern Brahman can be.
Because at BRC, great cattle don’t happen by accident. They begin with a vision, a pedigree, and the belief that the next generation should always be better than the last.
