While many people associate the Texas Junior Brahman State Show with the cattle show itself, some of the most valuable opportunities happen outside the show ring.
For Annie Cutrer, that’s exactly where she shines.
At the 2026 Texas Junior Brahman State Show, Annie earned recognition in several leadership and educational contests, highlighted by a 1st Place finish in the Marketing Competition.
Her complete results included:
- 1st Place – Marketing Competition
- 3rd Place – Herdsman Quiz
- 4th Place – Public Speaking
- 4th Place – Photography
While we are proud of these accomplishments, they represent only part of Annie’s involvement with the Texas Junior Brahman Association.
For the third consecutive year, Annie also volunteered throughout the event, helping wherever she was needed. This year, she served on the banquet decorating team, helped staff the popular Sweet Shop concession stand, and spent time handing out ice cream to exhibitors and families during the week.
Those volunteer opportunities have become one of Annie’s favorite parts of the event.
Unlike many junior members, Annie’s primary passion within the Brahman industry isn’t necessarily showing cattle. While she enjoys being around the cattle and helping with ranch activities, she has found her place through leadership activities, educational contests, service projects, and the friendships she has built through the junior association.
The Texas Junior Brahman Association provides opportunities for young people to develop skills that extend far beyond agriculture. Through contests such as marketing, public speaking, photography, and quiz competitions, members learn communication, creativity, problem-solving, and leadership. Through volunteer opportunities, they also learn the importance of serving others and giving back to an organization that invests in them.
Those opportunities align perfectly with Annie’s strengths.
Perhaps even more importantly, they have allowed her to build friendships with junior members from across Texas. The relationships formed through these events often become one of the most meaningful and lasting parts of the junior Brahman experience.
As parents, one of the things we appreciate most about the junior association is that there is a place for every child to succeed. We are especially grateful to the TJBA leadership team, advisors, and show sponsors who create these opportunities for hundreds of young people like Annie each summer.
Some young people love fitting and showing cattle. Others thrive in leadership contests, public speaking, photography, marketing, community service, and event planning. The beauty of the program is that it allows each participant to discover their own interests and contribute in their own way.
For Annie, this year’s state show was another reminder that success isn’t measured solely by banners and buckles. It is also measured by the friendships built, the skills developed, and the willingness to serve others.
We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments, grateful for her servant heart, and excited to see where her leadership journey takes her next.
