The TJBA Holiday Show, held each December, is a special tradition for Texas junior Brahman families, and this year BRC was grateful to play a small part in helping eight families take home banners or buckles.
This was a large and competitive show with approximately 300 head exhibited by Texas juniors. The event is coordinated by TJBA advisors Jimmy and Beth Sartwelle along with the TJBA directors and has become a meaningful holiday tradition for many families. Even more importantly, all proceeds from the show fund TJBA graduating senior scholarships. Last year alone, more than $40,000 was awarded to TJBA seniors — a testament to what this organization stands for.
Dean Fuchs judged Ring A, with Brad Gonce judged Ring B.
While our own Mollie Cutrer and BRC I Wish You Would 523 were fortunate enough to earn Grand Champion Grey Brahman Female in both rings, what meant even more to us was that the other six major winners were cattle raised, bred, and exhibited by other juniors and families who simply chose to use BRC genetics.

Many of these cattle were not “BRC-branded” animals. They were the result of junior exhibitors and ranch families purchasing semen, making thoughtful mating decisions, putting in the daily work, and building their own programs. That is something we are incredibly proud of.
There is a mindset in the cattle business that genetics should be guarded — that selling semen domestically creates competition. We see it differently. We believe genetics are meant to be used, proven, and built upon. Every great program starts somewhere, and unless you’re Noah loading the Ark, all cattlemen source genetics from others at some point.
We are thankful to be blessed with a sire lineup that continues to work across many different cow families and management styles. Seeing five different BRC sires represented among class winners, division winners, and champions — raised by multiple families — is humbling and deeply rewarding. When someone invests in your genetics, the hope is that it pays off for them. Watching that happen is the real win.

We are genuinely happy for these young exhibitors — many of whom are showing bred-and-owned cattle — and thankful to be a small part of their success through genetics alone.
