With the tremendous success of BRC Ranch in the last decade, many Brahman breeders and ranchers worldwide have questions about our ranch. Here are some of the common questions we get at BRC.
Who owns BRC Ranch?
BRC Ranch (B.R. Cutrer, Inc.) is owned jointly by the husband and wife team of Brandon Cutrer and Rachel Cutrer.
What does BRC stand for?
BRC stands for Brandon and Rachel Cutrer. When we started the ranch, many of our international friends encouraged us to choose this name because they said there is no stronger team in the Brahman breed than Brandon and Rachel, and our name should reflect that.
Where is BRC Ranch located?
BRC Ranch is headquartered in Boling, Texas, in the heart of Wharton County, just southwest of Houston.
How big is BRC Ranch?
BRC Ranch currently operates in Texas and Louisiana. Our main headquarters is located in Boling, Texas. We also run cattle at a satellite ranch in Louisiana.
Did you inherit your ranch?
No, we did not. We have not inherited a single acre of land. When we married, we owned 0 acres. Over a 12 year period we have slowly and steadily purchased land and built our ranching acreage. We have financed all of our land purchases through Capital Farm Credit and appreciate the farm credit system’s opportunities to help young ranchers get started. We are huge advocates for smart financial management and share information about financing through the Farm Credit system any chance we get.
Did you buy or raise your initial cattle?
A little of both. When we married we owned 6 head between us. We used these in embryo transfer to build our initial numbers. Throughout our marriage we have done a few cattle deals to increase our cow herd base, and then retained replacement females to continue to grow. We have made significant purchases throughout the last decade from JDH Locke Division, D Bar Ranch, and Southern Cattle Company to put us where we are. Each year we try to add 1-2 outside females from our herd, in recent years we have selected these from Partin and Partin Heart Bar Ranch, Detering Red Brahmans, and J. Forgason Division of JD Hudgins.
What does BRC Ranch specialize in?
We specialize in raising elite Brahman seedstock backed by data-driven breeding, proven show-ring success, and practical rancher-focused performance. We also offer Hereford and Angus genetics to deliver crossbreeding solutions for Gulf Coast ranchers.
What breeds of cattle do you raise?
Our focus is Brahman cattle, but we also raise Hereford and Angus to support crossbreeding programs tailored to the Gulf Coast’s climate and market demands.
What makes BRC Brahman cattle different or better?
Our Brahman cattle combine championship pedigrees, balanced EPDs, modern phenotype, and functional efficiency. We emphasize calving ease, carcass quality, heat tolerance, and longevity, all backed by genomic testing and decades of commitment to the breed.
Do you sell breeding stock to commercial ranchers?
Yes! We work with ranchers of all sizes to provide high-quality bulls and replacement females that deliver predictable results in real-world conditions.
Do you sell semen and embryos internationally?

How do I buy cattle from BRC Ranch?
You can purchase privately off the ranch, through one of our annual sales, or by contacting us to discuss your program’s needs. We’re here to help you choose the right animal for your goals.
What is the process for exporting cattle/semen/embryos?
BRC offers cattle for sale. We then connect you with trusted exporters to get your genetics shipped safely and legally to your country.
What is your breeding philosophy?
We believe in raising practical, profitable cattle that excel both in the show ring and in the pasture. This is often called our “Modern Brahman” approach. We use rigorous selection criteria, data-backed decision-making, and a commitment to integrity and breed improvement.
How do you ensure the genetic quality of your herd?
All BRC cattle are DNA parent-verified, and our breeding program incorporates genomic testing, measured performance data, and careful linebreeding strategies to maintain consistency and excellence.
What kind of culling practices do you use?
We use ruthless culling to ensure our herd is top quality and that our cattle perform for our customers. We put huge selection pressure for structural soundness, fertility, disposition, and visual characteristics like light muscle or pendulous sheaths/navels. We expect our females and bulls to be very fertile, and cull ruthlessly in this area. We are selecting for earlier maturity, stronger fertility.
Do you have cattle suitable for first-time breeders?
Yes! We’re proud to help new breeders get started, offering cattle at various price points along with the mentorship and guidance you need to succeed.
How do you price your cattle?
We price cattle based on their genetic merit, pedigree, performance data, and market demand. We’re committed to delivering value at every level of our offering.

How do you handle health testing and vaccinations?
We maintain a comprehensive herd health program in partnership with veterinary experts, ensuring all sale cattle are healthy, properly vaccinated, and ready to perform.
Do you offer guarantees on the cattle you sell?
We stand behind the quality and integrity of our cattle. Specific sale terms vary by event or private treaty but are always clearly communicated to buyers.
Do you have bulls suitable for crossbreeding programs?
Yes. Our Brahman bulls are proven to add hybrid vigor, heat tolerance, and carcass quality to crossbreeding programs, making them ideal for commercial operations.
Is BRC Ranch connected to V8 Ranch?
BRC is an independent operation with its own cattle, genetics, management style, commitment to integrity, and breeding philosophy. BRC is owned and operated by Brandon and Rachel Cutrer. Rachel’s grandfather, Sloan Williams, was the owner of V8 Ranch from the mid 1970s until his death. Rachel branded her cattle under his brand for the first 40 years of her life, prior to creating the BRC brand. We credit Sloan and Mollie Williams for their tremendous impact on our lives and mentorship. We’re proud of our heritage and even prouder of what we’re building today: a ranch committed to integrity, innovation, and customer-focused service for Brahman breeders worldwide.
Is BRC Ranch Connected to Ranch House Designs?
Rachel Cutrer is the founder and CEO of Ranch House Designs. However they are two separate businesses with no affiliation other than we joyfully encourage and support business. When you become a customer of BRC, you are able to capture marketing discounts from RHD as a gesture of appreciation for buying cattle from BRC.
Is BRC Ranch Connected to Brahman Country Beef?
Brahman Country Beef LLC is a independent business. BRC Ranch is a proud supplier of cattle to Brahman Country Beef.
Is BRC a show-focused Brahman ranch?
No. At first glance you might think we are, because we consistently dominate the Brahman show ring, including being the breeder of the most International Grand Champion Females of the last decade. BRC sires also consistently rank at the top of the ABBA Register of Renown for producing outstanding show cattle. However, our main focus is on production, and hence the reason we are the #1 source of Brahman breeding bulls in the USA. We focus on traits like longevity, fertility, structural soundness, practicality, and focus a lot on Bonsma principles of function. The show ring is a fun marketing tool for us. We enjoy showing and also enjoy helping young Brahman breeders show.
