BRC Stands Out at the 2025 Bos Indicus International

June 9, 2025

For the second year, BRC Ranch claimed top honors at the Bos Indicus International, a unique new show concept that combines visual phenotype judging with performance EPD judging. It is a “phenotype to genotype” show system that is designed to incorporate performance measures into the show ring and help eliminate political bias to some degree.

In this show, the cattle are judged 70% on visual phenotype and 30% on EPD rankings, specifically based on maternal and terminal EPD traits. Ernie Dominguez judged the event.

With seven division titles, two grand champion honors, and one reserve grand champion, BRC proved once again why its cattle stand at the forefront of the Bos Indicus world.

“It’s really fun to judge this show, seeing not just the phenotype, but the numbers and EPDs as well,” said Dominguez before selecting his supreme champions. “It’s one thing to see the cattle in the ring, but then to see their numbers—wow—it blows you away.”  The BRC cattle all stand at the top of the breed for visual quality, and also rank in the top % for maternal and terminal EPD values – representing the best of both words.

BRC I Wish You Would 523
Sire: MSP King Garrett 584/1
Dam: +BRC Sweetie 486/8

BRC I Wish You Would 523 – affectionately known by “Minnie” as her barn name – is one of the most exceptional females we have ever raised. A full sister to Smoke Show and Johnny Brahman, she emerged as the class 1 winner to claim the reserve championship spot. We have very high hopes for this special heifer.

Reserve Grand Brahman Bull

BRC Hickory Stump 413
Sire: +BRC 160/8
Dam: BRC 775/7

BRC Hickory Stump 413 is also one of our most exciting young bulls we have shown. To us, he resembles his sire 160 so much at this age, except he’s smoother made and with a more desirable sheath. Hickory Stump was also the reserve calf champion at Houston earlier this year.

Intermediate Champion Brahman Bull
BRC Six Gun 328

Intermediate Champion Brahman Bull

BRC Six Gun 328
Sire: +BRC 160/8
Dam: JLT MS Shannon 631
Owner: Jackson P. Crew

With muscle, soundness, and breed character, Six Gun 328 turned heads and backed it up with exceptional data. Six Gun re-emerges on the show circuit after claiming an impressive division win at Houston earlier in the year. We look forward to seeing him competing this summer on the Brahman show circuit.

Junior Yearling Champion Gray Brahman Bull

BRC Wells Fargo Wagon 368
Sire: +BRC 458/7 “Noble”
Dam: + BRC 103/8

Owned with Indian Feather Brahmans
The Noble influence was on full display in this young star. Wells Fargo Wagon 383 impressed with his structural correctness, show ring presence, and winning pedigree.

Additionally, the BRC bloodline rose to the top for our customers. EP Sir Rau’s Handshake 2 and EP Lady Tiger Lilly 10, both sired by 968/7 son, were named division winners.

At BRC, we believe in breeding cattle that don’t just win in the ring—they lead in the real world. The future is bright, and it’s powered by performance.
