BRC Wins the Guitars at The Brahman Event

July 28, 2025

BRC Ranch took home three of the four championship winning guitars at The Brahman Event, a show in Lufkin, Texas on July 25, 2025.

This show is a new Brahman show – in it’s second year of competition – and known for giving the unique prizes of guitars for the championship and records for division winners. Being that we love music, we loaded up and took 6 head to the show.

The show was judged by Kyle Perez, a Hereford breeder from New Mexico. We were especially interested in seeing his opinion of our cattle, since we too have embarked in the Hereford breed.

BRC Johnny Brahman 299 took home the Grand Champion Brahman Bull title, emerging from the senior division. Johnny is our 2025 International Grand Champion Brahman Bull, out of Sweetie and sired by MSP King Garrett. Judge Perez complemented Johnny on being “the soundest bull he saw all day” yet having so much eye appeal, length, and muscling.

Our emerging young superstar, BRC Hickory Stump 413 took home Reserve Grand Champion Bull honors. This young bull is a modern replica of his sire, BRC 160/8, except with a more desirable sheath and smoother made. We are so excited to see the widespread interest on this young gun.

In the female show, we took two females.

BRC I Wish You Would 523 – better known as “Minnie” emerged from the summer yearling championship to claim the Reserve Grand Champion Female. This young heifer is capturing the attention of Brahman breeders worldwide. She is also a full sister to Johnny Brahman, being out of Sweetie and sired by the MSP King Garrett bull. This female is near ideal in every area — she’s so beautiful, feminine, functionally made, long bodied, wedge shaped to the max, and with impeccable breed character. We are very excited to see the many judges this spring and summer who have identified Minnie as a great one and used her – even though she is in one of the youngest divisions.

BRC Uptown Girl 463 also took home a division championship. A feature of our 2024 Night of Champions Sale, she was purchased by Finley Brothers Cattle. She is also a 160 daughter.

We are excited to continue to showcase our cattle – even with a small string like only six head – at Brahman shows throughout the south. We are committed to taking our cattle to shows that are run by people committed to providing fair and unbiased judging evaluations. We believe that when honest judges evaluate Brahman shows, we can all learn something, we can all take that feedback, and the breed can continue to improve.

Thank you to The Brahman Event for hosting this show. We look forward to continuing to showcase our cattle throughout the summer.
