A Landmark Event for the Brahman Breed in Nicaragua

The Feria de Managua 2024 was a celebration of the Nicaraguan cattle industry, drawing together the best cattle breeders from across Central America. This event featured cattle exhibitions, equine exhibitions, rodeos, educational conferences, and more.

Among the highlights of this prestigious event was the judging of the Red and Grey Brahman shows, judged by Rachel Cutrer of BRC Ranch. With her extensive experience and expertise in the Brahman breed, Rachel was honored to be a part of this significant agricultural event.

The Feria de Managua: A Key Event in Central America

The Feria de Managua is recognized as a crucial event in the development and promotion of the Brahman breed within Nicaragua and the broader Central American region. It serves as a platform for breeders to showcase their finest cattle, exchange knowledge, and strengthen the community that drives the industry forward. The 2024 edition of the show was no exception, with breeders bringing their top animals to compete in a series of highly anticipated events. The show attracted spectators from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and more. Central America is a hub for Brahman cattle and this event showcased Brahman’s importance to the economic development of the region.

BRC Ranch Team Judging Global Brahman Shows

Rachel Cutrer’s selection as the judge for both the Red and Grey Brahman shows was a testament to her deep understanding of the breed and her reputation within the global cattle industry. She serves as an official judge representing the American Brahman Breeders Association. Her role was to evaluate the cattle based on key breed characteristics, including conformation, muscling, and overall breed type—traits that define the best of the American Brahman breed.

As the judge, Rachel was tasked with the challenging job of selecting the top cattle from an impressive lineup. The competition was fierce, with entries from some of the most respected breeders in Central America. Her decisions were guided by her years of experience and her commitment to promoting the best in Brahman genetics.

Throughout the year, Rachel, Brandon Cutrer, and Keaton Dodd serve as official judges of numerous livestock shows worldwide. In 2024, our team has served as judges in Nicaragua, Mexico, and the United States.

A Bright Future for Brahman Breeding in Central America

Rachel commented that Feria de Managua 2024 reflected the strong ties between breeders in the United States and Central America. “It’s been over ten years since I had been to Nicaragua, and I want to commend the breeders on the hard work and excitement I see here today,” she said. “Change is hard, change takes time, change takes hard work, and change takes a lot of money to accomplish. But keep doing what you are doing here in Nicaragua. You are doing great things!”

As the Brahman breed continues to grow in popularity and importance, events like Feria de Managua will play a crucial role in shaping its future.

Congratulations to all the participants and winners at the Feria de Managua 2024!
