San Jose Cattle and Criadero Lastra – two of Mexico’s premier Brahman breeders – recently claimed numerous championships at the 2025 LXI National Exhibition in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico.
CMLG CRIADERO LASTRA 361/3 was named Grand Champion Female. She is sired by Noble and out of HLG. -MISS CRIADEROS LASTRA 727/2. This beautiful female is in production with a excellent calf at side. She was also named the senior division champion. We have proudly worked with Cesar Lastra for many years, and are honored to see BRC bloodlines thriving in his herd. He has a very strong Brahman breeding program using top American genetics like BRC Ranch and JD Hudgins bloodlines. Noble has worked especially well in his program.
San Jose Cattle, owned by Marco Barba, continues to prevail with progeny from Miss V8 332/8. This is a female that Mr. Barba purchased from us many years ago prior to our move away from V8 Ranch and into BRC Ranch. This female consistently produces outstanding quality mated to a variety of outstanding bulls.
At this particular show, progeny from 332/8 were named Champion Produce of Dam. This group featured four outstanding progeny of 332/8 as you can see above. One particular standout of the group was SAN JOSE 440/4 FIV, who was named Calf Champion Female. We particularly really love this female based on the photos we’ve seen. She is so elegant, and still very age appropriate and youthful. This is one we think will have an excellent future.
The state of Chiapas and the greater southern Mexico region play a vital role in beef cattle production, where heat tolerance, fertility, efficiency, and longevity are essential.
