2026 “Brahman Challenge” Judging Contest

January 24, 2026

Held Prior to the Houston Livestock Show Judging Contest

Each year we open our gates to livestock judging teams nationwide to learn more about Brahman cattle. Our dates are flexible based on teams schedules and time in the area. This year, we’re doing something new and exciting! Any teams are welcome to come work out. Participating in the “Challenge” is optional but not required to visit us.

The BRC Ranch Brahman Challenge is an educational judging opportunity designed to help teams and individuals sharpen their cattle evaluation skills while working hands-on with elite Brahman cattle. This challenge is open to youth and collegiate contestants and is intended to serve as a high-quality practice event and fun competitive warm up leading into Houston.

The challenge is open to the following divisions:

  • 4-H / FFA members
  • Junior College / Senior College Teams
  • Adult “Open” Division (any age, worldwide participation welcome)

Teams and individuals are welcome to participate. There is no cost to enter. Sign up on site or pre-register online.

Location: BRC Ranch, 10406 FM 1301, Boling, Texas

Challenge Window: March 9-13th, 9 am to 3 pm daily

Teams and individuals may come at their leisure during the challenge window to complete their classes.

BRC will provide multiple practice classes including Brahman bulls and Brahman females. Students are welcome to practice on the classes whether they join the “Challenge” or not.

To join the challenge, each contestant will submit the following during the challenge window:

  • Placings on 2 classes
  • Questions on 2 classes covering breed character and more.

Optional Reasons Component (Highly Encouraged)

To add a “big contest” element, contestants may choose to present reasons on one class to a panel of distinguished reason takers including guest judges who are respected voices in the Brahman breed.

Adult “Open” Division – Placings and Questions Only

The Adult Open Division is open to the world — any age, any background. International guests are welcome to participate. Whether you’re a former contestant, cattle breeder, judge, ag teacher, or Brahman enthusiast… you’re invited to join in the fun and sharpen your skills.
