BRC Ranch proudly supplied the Brahman cattle for the official livestock judging classes at the 2026 Sam Houston State University Livestock Judging Contest. The event was held on April 9, 2026 at the state of the art Gibbs Ranch facility in Huntsville, Texas.
Lyn Castaneda, BRC Ranch Manager, provided the cattle and spent two days at SHSU representing BRC Ranch. Lyn is an alumni of Sam Houston State University.
This contest is a large Texas livestock judging contest open to students across the state. It is one of the premier contests that FFA students prepare for ahead of the state competition.
“I was very happy to provide the class of Brahman heifers,” Lyn said. “The comments from the officials and the participants were all extremely positive and I think the students really enjoyed seeing the high quality that BRC provided.”
BRC believes in giving back to the industry whenever possible. We believe that these type of competitions are important in training future cattle breeders but also for helping young people build decision making and leadership skills.
We with the best to Sam Houston State University and all of the students who participated.
