The 2024 State Fair of Texas Brahman Show proved to be an outstanding showcase for cattle carrying BRC genetics, with multiple champions named under the eye of judge Quest Newberry.
At BRC Ranch, we focus on competing at major events like Houston, the Nationals, and Cattleman’s Congress, but thanks to our exceptional customers, our genetics continue to shine at numerous regional fairs across the South – like the State Fair of Texas Brahman Show.

Here’s a look at the standout champions:
Reserve Grand & Intermediate Champion Gray Bull: 79’S MR 18/23 (P) This impressive polled bull, sired by MR. H Pride of Maddox Manso 684/8 and out of MISS V8 916/8 (P), captured the Reserve Grand and Intermediate Champion titles. While the dam has the V8 brand, she was bred by BRC prior to us leaving V8 and starting on our won. This bull is just another great example of the Heritage + BRC blend. Owned by 79 Cattle Company and exhibited by J&L Cattle Services, this bull represents a strong blend of performance and pedigree, and he has been a many time winner this fall.
Reserve Intermediate Champion Gray Bull: EP SIR RAU’S HANDSHAKE 2 Sired by MR. V8 968/7 and out of EP LADY JO ANNA 1/1, EP Sir Rau’s Handshake 2 earned the Reserve Intermediate Champion title. Owned by Charles Eddie Payne Wilson, this bull carries the legacy of BRC’s focus on superior Brahman bulls, blending functional traits with top-tier genetics. The sire, 968/7, is another older bull that BRC bred while we previously marketed our cattle under the V8 brand.
Senior Yearling Champion Gray Bull: MR. 5H BRIXTON 4/3 Brynn Harris’ MR. 5H Brixton 4/3 took home the Senior Yearling Champion title. Sired by +M2 BRC Captain 518/1, a bull well-known for his consistency and performance, and out of +Lady H Claudia Manso 515/3, this champion showcases the power of BRC + Heritage breeding program. With his balance, structure, and style, Brixton was a standout in the show ring.
Calf Champion Gray Bull: MR. 5H FINN 7/4 Another win for Brynn Harris, MR. 5H Finn 7/4, claimed the title of Calf Champion Gray Bull. Sired by +M2 BRC Captain 518/1 and out of MISS 5H Jade 7/1, this young bull is already making a name for himself, and his future looks bright in the world of Brahman cattle.
Grand & Intermediate Champion Gray Female: MISS HC QUINN 180/3 Herzog Cattle’s Miss HC Quinn 180/3 dominated the female categories, taking home Grand Champion and Intermediate Champion Gray Female honors. Sired by +M2 BRC Captain 518/1 and out of +MISS WCC Violet 217/6, this heifer embodies the maternal strength and beauty that both BRC and Watkins Cattle (WCC) genetics are known for.
Reserve Senior Yearling Champion Gray Female: MISS LPC 249 Camp J. McCall’s Miss LPC 249 earned the Reserve Senior Yearling Champion title. This heifer, sired by +MR. V8 279/7 (P) and out of MISS LPC 114, exhibited by IS Ranch Fitting Services, further demonstrates the high caliber of cattle present at this year’s fair. Once again, 279 is an older bull that we bred but he carries the V8 brand since he was born during the time we previously marketed our cattle under that ranch name.
Calf Champion Gray Female: MISS 5H JOSIE 5/4 Brynn Harris secured another win with Miss 5H Josie 5/4, who was crowned Calf Champion Gray Female. Sired by +M2 BRC Captain 518/1 and out of +Lady H Claudia Manso 515/3, Josie’s victory is another shining example of the Heritage + BRC breeding programs.
The BRC genetics present at the 2024 State Fair of Texas Brahman Show have once again proven to be a driving force behind some of the top Brahman cattle in the industry. Congratulations to all the owners and exhibitors who proudly showcased these champion cattle. With BRC’s commitment to excellence in breeding, the future continues to look bright for Brahman cattle carrying their genetics.
